April session: New Approach

April 27, 2010

This month’s BFN session tonight (8pm, Bar Ha Ha) is going to be slightly different – instead of a single guest speaker we are just going to split the time between those attending and give everyone a chance to talk about their projects, career and plans so that those listening can offer their thoughts / advice etc on the best way to push things forward. This session should be productive even if there’s only a few people in attendence: ‘Whoever comes is the right people’.

30th March BFN Session: Follow up

March 31, 2010
Another great session last night – Conor talked with real passion about his life and work, incorporating a documentary-style eye for bringing the stories of under-represented groups to a wider audience, and a desire to create poetic visual films.
He showed us a couple of clips of his documentary work – the award-winning ‘Christmas with Dad’ and one of the ‘War Stories’ featurettes that are airing on BBC Points West this week (including tonight at 6.30pm – they can also be viewed via the website after airing for a limited time here).
We wish him and his team luck for the next and biggest stage of iFeatures!

30th March BFN session – Conor’s iFeatures team is in the final 6!

March 29, 2010

Big congratulations to tomorrow nights guest speaker Conor McCormack who’s made it through to the final 6 of the awesome iFeatures scheme!

Come along tomorrow to hear him talk about the process so far and his plans as regards getting into pole position to be one of the three films that gets made…

8pm. Bar Ha Ha.

Also in the final six are Bristol Film Networking alumni Matt Golding Smith and Alison Sterling – well done guys!

30th March BFN Session: Conor McCormack

Our guest speaker for March is March’s guest speaker is acclaimed director Conor McCormack, who was bifa-nominated last year for ‘Christmas with Dad’, and this year won a place in the final 12 projects in the prestigious iFeatures scheme. Symphonic Studios Free Film Networking Event Thurs 25th

March 24, 2010

Just had this in from a BFN alumni Louis Sherman (his studios are rather nice…):

We are holding a Film Networking Event here at Symphonic Studios on Thursday 25th March at 7 p.m.

The idea is to give those creative types who have produced their own films or videos the chance to showcase their work infront of an audience (max of 15 mins per film).

Should be a fun, interesting evening, perhaps with a final round in the local !

No charge, this is a free event, but numbers are limited, so please email me if you wish to come or are interested in showing your work.

Those with work to show are also invited to give a short (5 min) talk of the background behind the work.

Louis Sherman, Symphonic Studios, 56 Staple Hill Road, Fishponds, Bristol BS16 5BS
